Description

Knapstein Design is a high-end residential interior design firm seeking an Associate Designer to support the owner, Kurt Knapstein, in all phases of design work on a very active client roster

Applicant should be an energetic and positive person with a passion for Interior Design, CAD proficiency and ideally have other 3D rendering skills.  The associate designer is also responsible for collaborating with outside vendors and trades, maintaining the sample library, as well as supporting with furniture, fixture and equipment selections. 

Must be a detail oriented, multi-tasker who is hardworking and organized, ideally with 1-3 years experience and or strong internships at luxury residential design firms. BA in Architecture or Interior Design preferred.

Requirements

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or ArchiCAD, Photoshop, InDesign, Google Docs
  • Work with firm owner to develop design concepts, furnishings, fabrics and finishes.
  • Work on preparing presentations.
  • Design presentation skills
  • Create finish schedules: tile, plumbing, hardware, paint, etc
  • Able to haul heavy samples and small furniture during presentations or installations.
  • Strong organizational abilities
  • Maintaining organization of the fabric library
  • Knowledge of design requirements, construction methods and materials for residential remodels
  • Knowledge of furniture, lighting, finishes, materials and color selections
  • Pulling preliminary furniture, fabric, window treatments, fixtures, finishes and accessories as directed
  • Research products and/or vendors
  • Site visits for measurements, punch lists, installs and issues
  • Identifying and helping to resolve project problems with the ability to note opportunities
  • General office administrative duties
  • Collaborative, self motivated, positive, adaptable and flexible.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills and comfortable working with clients, vendors and trades people
  • Ideal candidate resides in Kansas City and must have own auto transportation.
